What’s In A Name?

November 14th, 2015

“…that which we call a rose,
By any other name would smell as sweet”
~ Juliet (from William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet)

We couldn’t agree more with Juliet. But, perhaps in today’s constantly switched on world where attention span is hotly fought over, a company’s essence has to be captured in its name. To paraphrase youth in London nowadays, one’s name really has to be on fleek to better rep their ends.

Jermyn Street┬áis one of the better known eponymous streets in London, UK and we can all see why from it’s rich history. The quality of brands on the street itself is monitored by the community’s own Jermyn Street Association. This self-policing group has ensured standards, which they are well known for internationally, are maintained.

It was critical to us that our brand name captured its English heritage. So when we learned that the first time the words “Jermyn Street” were ever recorded was way back in 1664, we had a light bulb moment, and “Jermyn Street 1664” was born.

Will share more about Jermyn Street 1664’s brand values in a future post.
